Roth+Taylor Fine Art Gallery presents an immersive installation using the sculpture of a mannequin by ChadMichael Christian Morrisette titled Little Man. Mannequin comes from the French word mannequin, which had acquired the meaning an artist’s jointed model, which in turn came from the Flemish word mannequin, meaning little man.

The Rise, 2020, ChadMichael Christian Morrisette

From the turn of the last century and spanning into the broad spectrum of popular culture today, Morrisette’s medium is human sculptures known as mannequins. From Twiggy, to Barbie, to Aquaman, and including a Dior Potato head, Morrisette has always been drawn to human form and the mannequin has been the vessel for expression of his art. “My medium of mannequin art manifests itself through artistic installations in unconventional spaces–the rooftop of my home, within award winning window displays, to world renowned museum installations, all garnering international attention. If there is a captive audience present, there will always be a marvel of my mannequin installations.”

As Morrisette proudly presents a condensed visual experience in “Little Man,” this show will showcase a glimpse of how he utilizes his medium of mannequin as an artistic expression through a curated sampling of what high impact installation art is about. Sharing the room with Morrisette will be works by living legends–photographer, Greg Gorman and sculptor, Tanya Wolf Ragir.
