Regen Projects hosts an opening for Catherine Opie: Holding Blue. The exhibition of new photographs and sculptures is the artist’s twelfth exhibition with the gallery.

The solo show focuses on Opie’s investigations into the formal as well as theoretical qualities of the photographic medium. Additionally it spotlights the singularities of the Norwegian landscape. In Holding Blue, the artist pays tribute to the natural world via her longstanding practice of closely observing the social and physical world around her. Head to Hauser & Wirth for the opening art party for The Generative Universe by Keith Tyson. The solo show brings together more than three decades of paintings, sculptures, and also mixed-media works. It is also the first exhibition in Los Angeles by Tyson since 2009.

Roberts Projects debuts Let’s Get It On: The Wearable Art of Betye Saar. The solo show spotlights the central role of costume design in Saar’s early career. Hence this part of her journey as an artist and mother continued throughout her life. The archivally-driven exhibition features over 200 objects, including costume designs, photographs, drawings, garments, jewelry, artworks and historic materials from the 1950s–1970s.

François Ghebaly presents Pillow Paintings by Guim Tió and Spell by Gokula Stoffel. The Barcelona-based painter Guim Tió works in oil and colored pencil. The exhibition was inspired by Sei Shōnagon’s Pillow Book, a 11th-century text recording courtly life during the Heian period in Japan.

Brazilian artist Gokula Stoffel utilizes various elements in her work.
