LSH CoLab (778 N Virgil Ave., LA, 90029) throws an art party to celebrated Los Angeles artist Senon Williams titled “Friend or Fiend” on Friday, March 6, with a reception from 7 – 9 pm.  The exhibition marks the second time Senon has shown with the gallery. He will be presenting new works on paper, addressing current issues in our loaded political climate.

With one letter and succinct simplicity, Senon Williams exposes the fragility of our human definitions and boundaries: Friend or Fiend.

There is a physicality to both foreground and background that reaches out from the paper. Rough, smooth, melting, spreading, swirling textures and curves that form letters of our language. When read, one is jostled to a different understanding of these strange markings that create our measure of meaning. Images form an expression of the text giving way to a musically-derived illustration of emotion. The borders of dark and light sit upon and within each other illustrating our souls are not entirely open. When the corners are lit there are surprising finds.”
