This exhibition culminates two significant moments for the artist in the last year. From November 2022 to April 2023 the Toledo Museum of Art presented Matt Wedel: Phenomenal Debris. The solo exhibition included over one hundred sculptural artworks and works on paper created over the last decade. Also in 2023, Wedel participated in a two-part artist residency at the Honolulu Museum of Art. While working on this exhibition, he developed new ceramic works and the gouaches of the Hawaii Series. On view through January 6, 2023.

Juarez: Now and Then

Juarez: Now and Then is an intimate presentation of select drawings and prints by Terry Allen. Begun in the 1960s and continuing to this day, Juarez is described by Allen as a “haunting” and by others as the axis mundi of his practice. In its entirety, this expansive project consists of drawings, texts, constructions, poems, sketches, prints, watercolors, songs, a screenplay, multi-room installations, musical theater performances (one co-written by David Byrne), and an album accompanied by a suite of lithographs and texts, among other manifestations. In the artist’s words, Juarez “has probably instigated and/or informed everything I’ve ever made.”

This presentation highlights the Nazraeli Press recent publication of Juarez, a book which reproduces, for the first time, Allen’s lyrics alongside twelve new etchings in a continued expansion of the Juarez universe. On view through January 6, 2023.

On view: October 25, 2023 – December 2, 2023 (RED) and the othertwo run through January 6, 2024.
