The UCPLA Washington Reid Gallery along with its adjoining Washington Place Adult Day Program, supports a vigorous community of working artists with a variety of developmental challenges, such as Autism, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome, whose perspective is vital within the contemporary art world.

Three studios for artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities have joined forces for a traveling exhibition named “Three Cities Social.” The exhibition opens in LA on June 8, 2019 and presents paintings, works on paper, and multimedia pieces that will travel between the UCPLA Washington Reid Gallery in Culver City, Arts of Life in suburban Chicago, and the Portland Art & Learning Studio in Portland. Exhibiting artists include: Shannon Anderson, Amanda Gantner, Paul Hassan, Nikole Heusman, Aaron Hutchinson, Bea Olea.

The gallery features UCPLA artists, Los Angeles area artists, and invited guests from all over the world whose work connects with the community. The exhibition space and studios promote inimitable, experimental, and break-through art practices that re-examine what contemporary art is capable of and what one human can create. Adaptive environments and tools are designed and utilized as a key part of studio practice to enable the capacity of every artist in any chosen medium.
