KCRW hosts its next Sound Bites focusing on the ever-evolving and intertwined worlds of food and music is coming up on Tuesday, July 20th at 7:00 PM PDT. This time KCRW’s Anne Litt and Evan Kleiman will be joined by punk legends Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney, and drummer, author, and owner of Superiority Burger in NYC, Brooks Headley.

Sleater-Kinney first emerged in Olympia, WA in 1994 during the underground feminist punk riot grrrrl movement. After a ten year hiatus they came back with critically-acclaimed album No Cities to Love in 2015 and dropped their 2021 release, Path of Wellness, along with a Summer U.S. tour.

Brooks Headley’s punk journey also started in the early 90s, where he played drums in hardcore bands Universal Order of Armageddon, Born Against, (Young) Pioneers, Men’s Recovery Project, and many more. When Headley shifted from music to food, he won the James Beard Award for “Outstanding Pastry Chef” at the NY restaurant, Del Posto, and in 2019, was a James Beard nominee for “Best Chef: NYC” for his vegetarian restaurant, Superiority Burger.
