The Wende Museum offers Scrapbook Movies From LA: A Multimedia Collection of Contemporary History.

It’s the final weekend of All The Devils Are Here: How Shakespeare Invented The Villain by Patrick Page at the main theatre at BroadStage. The Work is Never Finished: Prints, Drawings, and Paintings by Samella Lewis opens at Louis Stern Fine Arts. Artist, educator, activist, art historian, and curator Dr. Samella Lewis (1923-2022) conducted the lion’s share of her life and career in the service of others: championing the work of other Black artists, battling institutional hurdles to create educational and professional opportunities for people of color, and pioneering the field of African American art history.

Her own artwork, however, she made for herself. DMST Atelier unveils SIKE!, a solo show by American artist Joseph Sherman. Produced during Joseph’s 2025–26 artist residency with the gallery, the exhibition brings together collages, encaustic paintings and a sculptural piece. The slang word “sike,” was used by Joseph often during his childhood growing up in Illinois. It was chosen as a title for art viewers to look past the obvious – hence, the work is created in ways that may not be obvious.
