Art Merge Lab announces its exciting venture into Asian ink painting, both as updated medium of expression and as inspiration for hybrid creations, in the upcoming show “Transpose.”

The exhibition will feature four artists—with Eric Blum, Stephen Little and Miki Saito. Two of them create artwork using brushwork on paper and silk, while Stephen Little uses thinned acrylic and oil paint on canvas, resulting in striking watercolor effects.

Young Projects is pleased to present the first major survey of Melbourne-based artist, Daniel von Sturmer in the US.
Sponsored by Arts Victoria and the Australia Council for the Arts, the exhibition will the largest presentation of the artist’s work in the US to date and will include the debut of a new body of work called Camera Ready Actions (2014).

The show will be accompanied by a new catalog produced for the exhibition, which includes an essay by Tara McDowell, former curator at SFMoMA and the CCA Wattis Institute and published by the Narrows.
The exhibition at Young Projects will present a single group effort called Invisible Writing (2011), which was commissioned by MOCA Denver for the traveling exhibition “West of Center” and featuring an original score by composer Miroslav Tadic. It will also feature individual films from each member (ranging from narratives to abstraction; animation to collage), as well as documentation photographs by Andy Romanoff and Larry Janss, and a range of ephemera and vintage posters.

In Miracle Mile…
LACMA offers FREE jazz with saxophonist Azar Lawrence.
Lawrence has worked with Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, Elvin Jones, and McCoy Tyner. Lawrence joined Tyner’s band as tenor saxophonist following John Coltrane’s death. Lawrence maintains a busy international touring schedule following the release of his most recent recording, “Mystic Journey.”

THE KINGS OF CULT: A Tribute to Roger Corman & Joe Dante will be celebrated with two special events. The festivities will begin with a double feature of Joe Dante’s Matinee (1993) and Roger Corman’s The Masque of the Red Death (1964) at the New Beverly Cinema.
