Los Angeles Art Association held an opening of “VS.” at Gallery 825 on August 17, 2019. The exhibition will remain on view through September 7, 2019. “VS.” is a special all-media group exhibition that offers emerging artists an opportunity to create original collaborative works of art with another randomly selected artist.

Southern California Light & Space Artist, Frederika Roeder and figurative oil painter Samantha Howard have been selected to show two collaborative pieces as part of the Los Angeles Art Association’s upcoming exhibit titled “VS.” (Versus).

Roeder is known for her abstract expressionism and minimalist work that explores the Southern California’s expansive geography and unique culture. Howard is known for her contemporary paintings of flowers as well as abstract work.

All artists participating in the VS. project are paired at random and challenged to create two pieces – regardless of style or practice. Roeder works primarily in acrylic, while Howard works in oil – two mediums that are somewhat incompatible.

Their pieces, Detente and Rapprochement reflect the flow of strangers becoming project collaborators to form a corporate body of work.

Additional participating artists: Robyn Alatorre vs. Susan Melly, Elyse Wyman vs. Robyn Sanford, Lorraine Triolo vs. Ronen Pollak, Marlene Sanaye Yamada vs. Martin Fern, Larry Wolf vs. Lisanne Messinger, Carl Shubs vs. Leslie Barton, and many more (see website for more info).
