Downtown…GDCA hosted an art party to celebrate two exhibitions on August 20, 2022. Both shows run through August 31, 2022. Enjoy a group show titled “Melodies,” and a solo exhibition by artist Enid Nilsson, “It Is Good To Be Queen.” Remember to check with the gallery for up-to-date covid protocols and guidelines – (proof of vaccination and masks MAY be required once again).

“Melodies” is a group exhibition feature a variety of mediums – Painting, photography & mixed media collage. Honoring the inherent lyricism in the artists’ compositions, “Melodies” seeks to extend their rhythmic elements onto the walls, to underscore the innate, hidden, delicately revealed and directly referenced music in each piece.

Artists include: Deborah Argyropoulos, Adria Becker, Susanne Belcher, Joseph De Sanze, Teri Dryden, Andrew Eyler, Cheryl Hrudka, Stan Johnson, Sondra Jolles, Suki Kuss and Crystal Michaelson.

Here is some info about Enid Nilsson’s solo exhibition “It Is Good To Be Queen.” “The series is a respectful deference to Vela’zquez. Queen Mariana of Austria, the Infanta Maria Teresa and the Infanta Margarita are reinterpreted both spatially and figuratively through mixed media and collage, incorporating shredded, discarded posters from walls in Buenos Aires.”  – Enid Nilsson
