Los Angeles Art Association presents a group exhibition titled “Gossamer,” an all-media investigation of transparency, delicacy and translucence presentation in contemporary art. “Gossamer” is juried by Cynthia Penna, Also opening…additional solo exhibitions by Gail Glikmann, Chad Horn, and Nathalie Tierce. All exhibitions run  from August 20 to September 16, 2022. An all day opening will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10am-6pm at Gallery 825. Remember to check with the gallery for up-to-date covid protocols and guidelines – (proof of vaccination and masks MAY be required once again).

The exhibit “Fantastical” by sculptor Gail Glikmann is a tongue and cheek often whimsical commentary on contemporary life and the currents and undercurrents running through it. The figurative sculptures are large, often made of colorful mosaic and found objects, or brightly painted cast resin, which gives them a whiff of musical comedy joie de vivre.

Chad Horn’s exhibit “Oklahoma Dramedy” is an ongoing series of memory-based oil paintings and works on paper that capture his childhood and adolescence years in Central Oklahoma, where he was born and raised. The work speaks to the complexities of familial relationships, domestic life, and childhood memories.

In Nathalie Tierce’s solo show “Pulling Weeds from a Cactus Garden – Life is full of pricks,” the artist uses metaphor to convey the brutality of human interaction in her mixed media paintings and drawings. Diving into the dark space between desire and fear, her characters struggle within uneasy cartoon humor.
