October 19, 2024 – November 2, 2024, Downtown
The opening ceremony of Grand Park’s Dia de la Muertos took place on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Downtown Gloria Molina Grand Park hosts its annual tradition Día De Los Muertos installation. The two-week exhibition featuring stunning altars created by local artists and community organizations, as well as family-friendly activities, a free film screening, and also the first Downtown Dia de Muertos parade. October 25, 2024 – November 2, 2024, Downtown
The merchants on Olvera Street have celebrated Dia de los Muertos for nearly 40 years. The celebration has evolved to incorporate the pre-Columbian, Aztec, Mayan and Catholic rituals surrounding death. Each night, a colorful procession sets the stage for the ceremony. Dia de los Muertos is a celebration of life. The Day of the Dead celebration takes place each day on Olvera Street. While the entertainment officially begins during the day (11am) the nightly novenario procession begins at 7:00pm, which includes an indigenous blessing ceremony and live performances. There are community altars on display in the plaza as well. There are various events taking place throughout the run. If you are looking for a Día de los Muertos Celebration on the Westside, head to Third Street Promenade. The annual event features live entertainment (music & dance), community altars, a Latinx pop-up market, face painting and all kind of things to do for kids. Art will also be on display including massive paper mache sculptures. Then the dance party begins with KCRW DJ Jose Galvan. The Hollywood Forever hosts the 25th Dia De Los Muertos event featuring 100 plus alters, a ceremonial procession, music, and lots more. Expect, arts and crafts vendors, food available for sale, as well as a children’s plaza. The Cathedral art exhibit features Antonio Fuentes as artist of the year.

Antonio Pelayo Productions presents EL VELORIOs 14th Year Anniversary – The Day of the Dead Music & Arts festival.
