Marshall Gallery presents a solo exhibition of contemporary Finnish artist Ville Kansanen. Future Primitive opened on February 28, 2024 and runs through April 13, 2024.

Ville Kansanen

The exhibition is comprised of enigmatic photography, sculpture as well as video installation made in the barren deserts of California, Kansanen’s physical practice alludes to a history of primitive art and celestial reverence. It marks the artist’s first collaboration with the gallery and first solo exhibition in California, and includes recent work from his series NUMEN (2015-2021) as well as new projects debuting in the show. The exhibition will also feature an interactive piece and a video installation that echo the land-art approach of his print-based works on view.
