On Sunday, September 25, 2016, Upper West Restaurant hosts an art talk for the Southern California Womens Caucus for Art featuring artist Eva Montealegre from 4:30-6pm. Doors open to the public at 5 pm. If you haven’t stopped in yet to enjoy Montealegre’s solo exhibition, “The Cosmic Experience” at Upper West, this is a great time…it’s a beautiful show.

Montealegre will talk about her work and her inspiration. She has invited five other artists to each bring a work of art as well and participate in the art talk. Food will be available for purchase during the event.

Montealegre says “I find that I’m often affected and seduced by the character and ambience of a location, room or a set and so, in my paintings I am examining the personas, the body, the heavens, dark and mysterious corners, the stopping places and launching pads of my own soul. The LA crime novel has affected me in that I am forever investigating my humanity, the mystery of my meaning, my own storyline. It is only because I dig deep that I discover themes that are universal, that others relate to, as we are all born of water, we are all in a waking dream of a mystifying reality living in an expanse of space. That is the undeniable and natural truth – I am fascinated by nature, animals, the characters of our bodies, of the mountains, the seas and the trees and my connection to all that is, including the outer reaches of the cosmos.”

For those of you who do not know, Upper West serves exceptional cuisine. “The cuisine is chic comfort food, said Montealegre. “It’s amazing in that the dishes are familiar yet elegant so you can enjoy yourself and give your taste sensations a treat. You get a farm to table feeling about the whole meal experience.”
