7.19 MOCA BenjaminMillepiedDowntown, MOCA presents FRAMEWORK, a new series of three site-specific dance performances by L.A. Dance Project/Benjamin Millepied (see image) and Los Angeles artist Mark Bradford, in the galleries at MOCA Grand Avenue where The Painting Factory: Abstraction After Andy Warhol is now on view.

For this unique collaboration, Millepied will dance with Amanda Wells in the museum space on Rudolf Stingel’s Untitled (2007–2012), wall to-wall carpeting installed specifically for the exhibition, accompanied by a soundtrack that includes narration by Bradford.

The theme is focused upon the idea that technology and nostalgia govern communication and social practices through recurring modes as a means to retain the past and gain perspective through a modern lens. The discourse between art, technology and nostalgia is interrelated and can be represented from multiple perspectives.

7.19 VAC Canal MarcKarzenCurator Sunny Bak continues her photography series….with Late Night with David Letterman photographer Marc Karzen. At July’s VAC, Karzen will be featured at the popup venue Luminous located inside Canal Club.

The show features images that span the 20 plus years Karzen worked with the Letterman show

And save the best for last…..or you may just want to start here to make sure you get in….it gets kinda crazy. Dogtown Artists United will be at the Blu House again.  Yes I am sure they will have a lot of the same stuff from the Biennial, but they have brought in some new stuff to zip it up.

This is your last chance to see what Dogtown Artist United have put together at this amazing location on the Venice boardwalk. Artists include Isabelle Alford-Lago, Chase, David Healy, Gregg Fleishmann, Shana Koenig, David Leitch, Herwig Maurer, Chris Saunders, just to name a few.

Interactive Installation with Tim Thompson with Space Palette
Space Palette is a Kinect-based instrument that needs the collaboration of the public. Through hand movements you can control the sound and create beats and that simultaneously generates graphics.

Performance with Tim Pellerin from Liquid Fantasy Art in an kaleidoscopic body painting performance with 6 painted models, they have a glow room and live music too. Check out the FB Page for more info.
