LA Artcore presents its first online competition. This exhibit features the finalists of of the annual competition. Winners will be selected from the exhibited work. The finalists are: Nancy Egan, Bin Feng, Orion Fisher, Kaori Fukuyama, Allison Holt, Margaret Hyde, Scott Hyers, Jeff Iorillo, Katie Johnson, Shannon Keller, Sandra Lauterbach, Peggy Lee, Buchrun LoMele, Charity Malin, Susan Melly, Andre Mirzaian, Kevin Moore, Yari Ostovany, Susan Rotondo, Eva Ryan, Eugenia Shapiro, Joe Shlichta, Randy Sprout, Sarah Treanor, Piet Visser and Jim Zver.

Laddie John Dill, internationally known as a member of the Light and Space Movement is a recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and National Endowment for the Arts. The artist continues to experiment with applying a scientific approach to producing art from his studio in Venice, California.
Andy Moses, a Cal Arts graduate, has developed a type of process painting that is simultaneously abstract and representational. He has exhbited in New York and Los Angeles and abroad for the past 25 years, and is in the collection of the Laguna Art Museum and the Frederick R. Weisman Collection.
Ave Pildas, photographer, graduate degree in design from the world-renowned Kunstgewerbeschule in Basel, Switzerland. His photographs are in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (New York) and Bibliotheca National (Paris). He is Professor Emeritus at Otis College of Art and Design.

De Soto Gallery celebrates the work of photographer Judy Gelles. Enjoy an exhibition of her new series, titled “Beach Huts: Sunrise to Sunset.”

Selections from her 2002 series, Beach Boxes, will also be exhibited. The artist will be in attendance for the opening reception.
Judy Gelles’ Beach Huts document brightly colored, beachfront shelters that dot a stretch of shoreline in Bournemouth, England. Each of the seventy-five huts is painted in a unique tint inspired by the surrounding landscape as it appears from sunrise to sunset. Like her earlier series, Beach Boxes, of similar structures in Melbourne, Australia, the new images are straightforward renderings with simplified backgrounds. Arranged in analogous color sets of grids and rows, the configurations are typological studies highlighting uniformity and variation.
