CicLAvia celebrates it’s 6th year today and will run from Downtown to Venice Beach by way of Venice Boulevard. This is the FIRST time that it has made it’s way all the way to Venice.

This means NO CARS kids….as most people who know me know….I am NOT a car person….I like to put on my rollerlades and go….so I am excited about this event. ‘

As in previous years, shop owners and food trucks will be open and there will be all kinds of vendors along the route…so take some time to walk or bike, rollerblade or skip down Venice Boulevard…bring the kids the dogs and enjoy!

Ciclovías started in Bogotá, Colombia, over thirty years ago as a response to the congestion and pollution of city streets. Now they happen throughout Latin America and the United States.

CicLAvia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting public health, active green transportation, public space, economic development, and community building through car-free public events.

There’s a very special event taking place today. Sonny McLean’s Irish Pub along with Dropkick Murphys’ charity The Claddagh Fund host a fundraiserr to raise money for the victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy. 

The event features a silent auction with live music, great food as our community comes together to support the great city in its time of need.
