Well Thursday, Friday, September 25-26 2025 Art Parties and Events are shaping up to be quite a busy start to our art weekend. In addition to openings at Gagosian, Fahey Klein, and other galleries, the Other Art Fair kicks off on Thursday, and LA Design Weekend (LADW) starts on Friday. Both run through the weekend. Plus we have theatre as well as comedy too.

In West Hollywood…7811 Gallery and The Cannonball Betty Project co-present Acts of Surface. The three-person exhibition brings together the work of Edith Baumann, Chip Barrett and Vincent Enrique Hernandez. Across generations and mediums, each artist investigates the layered dynamics of a surface—both literal and also emotional—as a site of memory, transformation, and abstraction. Beverly Hills

Gagosian brings us a new exhibit titled Nights of Cabiria by Carol Bove. This is the artist’s first full exhibition at the Beverly Hills gallery and follows the installation of her sculpture Mary (2025) on the building’s roof in April. Embracing modernist formalism as a point of departure, Bove’s metal sculptures explore previously overlooked openings in the narrative of art history. Park La Brea area

Fahey/Klein Gallery celebrates new exhibitions with an opening art party. One of the shows opening is a multi-venue Los Angeles exhibition, Vanitas: The Palermo Portraits by Matthew Rolston. Copresented by Fahey/Klein Gallery, Los Angeles, ArtCenter College of Design, Daido Moriyama Museum / Daido Star Space, and Leica Gallery, Los Angeles, it debuts tonight. Also opening…Paul Outerbridge: Photographs is a landmark exhibition honoring a visionary modernist photographer.

The Los Angeles edition of The Other Art Fair presented by Saatchi Art takes place this weekend starting tonight. The four-day art fair will be held at Barker Hangar. It features over 150 artists. Furthermore each ticket includes a complimentary, hand-crafted whisky cocktail (for those who are 21+) on Thursday only. Plus, all Thursday ticket holders can claim free return tickets all weekend long. Barker Hangar has on-site parking available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking costs $20. Westwood

Geffen Playhouse presents a world premiere production of Am I Roxie?, written and performed by Roxana Ortega (The Casagrandes, The Groundlings). The play is directed by Bernardo Cubría (Crabs in a Bucket; The Giant Void In My Soul). In this funny one-woman tour-de-force based on her own life, writer/actor Roxana Ortega navigates the chaos of her mother’s mental decline with outrageous humor. Playing everything from a mermaid-obsessed aunt to a prickly sherpa, Roxie takes us on a humorous and also poignant journey.

LA Design Weekend (LADW) hosts its second annual edition, kicking off tonight and running through the weekend (September 26–29, 2025). The independently organized, citywide design fair will showcase studios, showrooms, exhibitions, workshops, group shows, parties, as well as iconic private residences across LA that help shape the city’s character. This year, LADW 2025 will expand into more neighborhoods, engage over 100 hosts, and welcome participants from across the country and also around the world.
