Downtown…Today’s Smorgasburg Los Angeles features ice cream pop-ups and also smorg resident cool treat vendors. It is a popular weekly culinary adventure at Row DTLA every Sunday. Mid City
Matter Studio offers a closing art party for two exhibitions – Milo Harvey: Transcending Matter and Craig Wcislo: Evolving Matter. Each artist spotlights a different medium in their perspective solo exhibition. Milo Harvey utilizes photography to investigate his life as transsexual man in Transcending Matter. Westwood
The Skirball Cultural Center, Grand Performances, and Zócalo Public Square present Zona Libre. The free event pays tribute to Latino Angelenos with deep ties to Mexico and Central America. Zona Libre will features an afternoon and evening of music-based community-building activities and live music performances.
The event also features a Zócalo Public Square conversation with Edgar Barrera and Martha Gonzalez plus live performances by Vivir Quintana, Renee Goust, La Verdad, and DJ Sizzle Fantastic (Cumbiatón). Moreover, Zona Libre’s additional family-friendly programming includes Face painting, temporary tattoos, and crafting activities. Plus enjoy access to the Skirball’s museum exhibition Jack Kirby: Heroes and Humanity. Beverly Hills
Marc Selwyn Fine Art presents Frank Bowling, Works on Paper: 2020-2023. the gallery’s fourth exhibition withe the artist. It features a selection of Bowling’s recent paintings on paper that explore his enduring experimentation with materiality and abstraction.
A fully illustrated catalogue featuring an essay by curator Sarah Roberts will be published on the occasion of the exhibition. In her essay, Roberts traces how Bowling engages with paper as a three-dimensional, responsive material and how living alongside waterways, from his birthplace, Guyana, to his current home in London, has influenced his abstractions.
