Thinkspace Projects hosted an opening art party to celebrate several new art exhibitions on February 10, 2024. Artists include: RYOL aka Ryo Laksamana, Danny J. Martinez aka Van Dam One, Paola Ciarka, Steve Martinez, as well as a group show titled Nerdstalgia. In addition to Thinkspace Night Market, live painting from 1440 will be featured. See the bottom of this post for more info about the opening art party and all that it will include. You won’t want to miss it.

RYOL aka Ryo Laksamana

In the Main Gallery, Thinkspace Projects presents Stealing Drinks From A Drunk Rock Star from RYOL (aka Ryo Laksamana). Their third solo exhibition together, the Indonesian artist RYOL has created a series of 12 paintings, ten of which see the artist reimagining masterpieces from nine legendary artists.

Danny J. Martinez aka Van Dam One

You’ll find Lost & Found from Danny J. Martinez (aka Van Dam One) in Gallery II. Martinez blurs the line between realism, illustration, cartoons, comics, and absurdity, therefore creating a blend of tangible surrealism that pulls the viewer into each piece.

Paola Ciarka

In Gallery III, Paolaverse by Paola Ciarka will debut. The artist revels, excites and rejoices in the unrestrained potential of imagination. Each miniature painting has a vast cast of female characters, living out a virtual fantasy from the comfort of their multi-room domiciles.

Nerdstalgia

A group show takes over Gallery IV. Nerdstalgia curated by Ken Flewellyn showcases new works from over 30 incredible artists, all mind melding with their inner nerd. Featuring work from Balloonski, Alex Face, Ken Flewellyn, GoopMassta, Mr. B Baby, Huntz Liu, and additional artists, this show explores the artists’ nerd origin story.

The Dog House Gallery

Steve Martinez’s Shuffle is opening in the Dog House Gallery. Martinez’s contemporary work deals with the discourse between the symbolic and the realistic within daily urban life. The thread of Mayan symbols and hieroglyphs—both representative of Martinez’s history and culture—is inescapable in his work, always connecting the present to the past by uplifting, preserving, and honoring a significant layer of meaning and identity.

The Art Party

Thinkspace Night Market features an artist mini-mart with booths from Miss Brixx, Alepsis Hernandez, Amy Smith, Fl.our Pots & Anthony Manorek’s vintage offerings, and also some tasty grub from Zavala’s Pies. Additionally, there will be a weed bar from The Cure Company, Thinkspace open bar, free Liquid Death, coffee and warm drinks from the Mad Barista, video projections from Digital Debris Video Gallery, as well as Venice Beats providing the soundtrack to this awesome art party.
