The Pick of the Week takes place at WWA Gallery in Culver City. Two new exhbitions, Color Ink Book’s WE’VE GOT ISSUES and PRISMA Artist Collective’s BLOOD, open this Saturday, August 18th!

Exploding to life from the pages of the quarterly magazine is Color Ink Book’s aptly titled group show “We’ve Got Issues.”

On display in the main gallery, this over-the-top extension of the publication features new and original black and white pieces by pop surrealists, lowbrow, avant garde, underground, and street artist.

Returning to WWA Gallery to commemorate the fourth year of their publication, the Brother’s Washburn have put together an impressive line-up of over sixty premiere artists whose brilliant works have graced past volumes of the art-lover’s coloring book.

Most of the artists will be in attendance, so come enjoy a fun art party with the movers and shakers of this subversive art scene!

Debuting in the project space and commanding special notice is the PRISMA Artists Collective with their first ever exhibit, Blood.

Blood is the darker antithesis of two mini-exhibits; the other being “Milk” opening in the fall. The soothing and nurturing quality of milk and the pulsating, purifying energy of blood are the primary substance in our lives and together define the cycle of beginning and end. The two mini exhibits explore the fascination with, and aversion towards, these two life-giving and life-sustaining body fluids.

Founded by Kaspian Shore (see image right), PRISMA brings together an acclaimed international community of artists and through encouragement, collaboration and discussion aims to foster and inspire its members at all stages of their careers.

Artists featured in BLOOD are: Allison Sommers, Audrey Pongracz, Caitlin Hackett, Casey Weldon, Daria Hlazatova, Kaspian Shore, Kelly McKernan (see image below, left), Nom Kinnear King, Michael Shapcott, Ruben Ireland.

Located in the Culver City Art District, WWA Gallery focuses on showing figurative and illustrative fine art by emerging and established artists such as Glen Barr, Shark Toof, Alex Pardee, Allison Sommers, JAW Cooper, Dave MacDowell, Camilla d’Errico, Bob Dob, and Ana Bagayan.

Guest curators often collaborate with WWA to create innovative and exciting events.
