This will be the artist’s first solo exhibit with the gallery. “We introduced Brooke Harker to the gallery last month with two large, black and white paintings of the streets of Laguna Beach,” said Greg Martin, co-owner of the gallery. “Brooke uses her strong draftsmanship skills to capture the charm and spirit of Laguna, even without the use of color. These paintings stand out to our regular visitors and designers for their modern style and urban perspective of this beloved and oft-painted beach town.”

The gallery opened its doors in 1988, founded by Lu Martin mother of Greg, who later joined the gallery as a partner. Located in Gallery Row in North Laguna, Lu Martin Galleries plays an active role in the first Thursdays monthly Artwalk.

“Greg Martin at Lu Martin Galleries has been a good friend and has watched the development of my work for several years,” said Harker. “It means a lot to me that he and Lu have decided to feature my work in their gallery.”

Harker is a frequent attendee to both Laguna Beach and its Art Walk. She has exhibited her work at the Laguna Gallery of Contemporary Art as part of the monthly event.

“In recent years, I have spent a lot of time in Orange County nurturing relationships and fueling my spirit away from the buzz of LA. These coastal works are a reflection of the ebb and flow of many love affairs with the ocean.
