October 2-3 2025 Art Parties & Events

Thursday, Friday, October 2-3 2025 kicks off yet another busy art weekend. We have the DTLA Art Night happening with plenty of other downtown events taking place, with some theatre all happening on Thursday. Then on Friday, there’s First Fridays on Abbot Kinney, plus openings in Glendale and Downtown as well as more theatre and a screening of Ghosts, and comedy too. Whew! Mama’s tired just telling you about it!

It’s time for another DTLA Artnight. The first Thursdays of the month event features over 25 Galleries.

LASC Library Art Gallery hosts an opening event tonight for My Name’s Not Damien by Damon Casarez. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with Hispanic Heritage Month. Jaja’s African Hair Braiding opened yesterday at the Mark Taper Forum. Written by Tony-nominated playwright Jocelyn Bioh and directed by Whitney White, the Tony-nominated and Obie-winning director, the show is set in a bustling Harlem salon. The play is directed by Bernardo Cubría (Crabs in a Bucket; The Giant Void In My Soul). In this funny one-woman tour-de-force based on her own life, writer/actor Roxana Ortega navigates the chaos of her mother’s mental decline with outrageous humor. Playing everything from a mermaid-obsessed aunt to a prickly sherpa, Roxie takes us on a humorous and also poignant journey.
