Downtown…Band of Vices presents the world premiere of Dear Artists… This new multi-show initiative conceived by Terrell Tilford honors visual artists. It is dedicated to the legacy of Melvin A. Marshall a curator who championed artists. The massive group show features 80 artists with over 200 artworks. Additionally, celebrate the gallery’s 10th anniversary year. Yet another reception in the same building….Vielmetter Los Angeles offers an opening for Your Tears Will Dry by Kiriakos Tompolidis. The solo exhibition of new works marks the artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery. Inspired by his recent move to Mexico City from Berlin, the artist utilizes both the color palette, and its indigenous flora as well as fauna. Billis/Williams Gallery presents Fred Stonehouse: Bust and Christine Frerichs: Recent Paintings. Fred Stonehouse is well known for his darkly whimsical compositions with humorous and sometimes cutting bits of text. In this new series, aptly titled Bust, Stonehouse is exploring portraiture featuring only the head and shoulders (a bust) as well as the parallel meaning of ‘to cause a collapse or to lose everything’ (to go bust, busted).
Christine Frerichs makes intimate observational paintings of interior scenes in her home and studio. Each work is a result of repetitive sittings – observing and painting what remains and what changes over weeks, months or years. Also in Culver City…New exhibitions open at Walter Maciel Gallery. They include: Exiles by Robb Putnam, Brendan Lott: I Have a Strong Urge to Do Something Harmful or Shocking, and Hung Liu: Art Salon. This is Robb Putnam’s seventh solo exhibit with the gallery. The work in Exiles takes a departure from the artist’s previous work and now celebrates abstraction.

Brendan Lott’s exhibition interrogates Al image creation by using prompts from the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory/MMPI (a self-report test). It is a long-standing diagnostic tool used to assess human personality traits and psychopathology. The Al generated images are then printed using the pre-electrical salt print process. dnj Gallery hosts a movie screening of Sick-The Battle Against HG. Co-produced & presented by Charlotte Howden, it is directed and co-produced by Lorne Guy of Good Guys; Stay after the film for productions remarks to follow with Marlena Fejzo, PhD. She is the 2024 Time Woman of the Year honoree for discovering the genes for morning sickness and HG, and HER Foundation Research Director.

About the Film: Sick is a powerful 30-minute short documentary that seeks justice and change for women whose experiences are too often dismissed as mere “morning sickness.” The film sheds light on the realities of Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) – a severe and often misunderstood condition affecting pregnant women. 1 in 10 women with HG terminate their pregnancies.

Anat Ebgi unveils I Know Her, a solo exhibition by Sarah Ann Weber. This is the artist’s third solo exhibition with the gallery and presents new works all made during 2025. An Inspector Calls, written by J.B. Priestley classic mystery opens at Theatre 40. The classic mystery directed by Cate Caplin is produced for Theatre 40 by David Hunt Stafford. A young woman meets with an untimely demise and a respectable family is subject to a routine inquiry in connection with the death.
