About the Exhibition

Presented by Arushi Gallery as well as Jonathan Toh (All About Art Gallery), this is the artist’s first LA solo show. He is currently participating in an LA art residency with the Consulate General of Indonesia. Once Upon a Time in California is inspired by his time observing people and cultures during his art residency.

About Naufal Abshar

Naufal Abshar is a promising young Indonesian artist, born in 1993 in Bandung. Trained in Lasalle College of the Arts (Singapore), in partnership with Goldsmith London, Naufal has participated in various group exhibitions as well.  The list of diverse places includes: Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Venice, Washington Dc, New York City and Lithuania. In 2013, he won an award from AMI (Anugrah Music Indonesia) for the Information Best Graphic Design to a music album namely Mantra – Mantra (Kunto Aji). He is also considered as one of Indonesia’s top collected artist, placing with many important blue-chip collections. His collector base has steadily grown both locally and overseas across the decade.
