Month of PhoMOPLA-LOGOtography Los Angeles (MOPLA) celebrates eight years. The annual initiative invites galleries all over LA to particpate.

LA Art Party is a proud sponsor. See one of LAArtParty’s staff writer, Henry K. Long’s Huffington Post article about the event. Here are some highlights I’d like to point out.

We are into the 2nd half of the month and we have lots more events for you. Be sure to check the MOPLA website for all the official MOPLA shows…there are lots more galleries joining in to celebrate photography

Saturday, April 16, 2016: Earth, wind, water, and metal are the key elements in this stunning show by Los Angeles bred photographer Charlotte Patterson. Through her dynamic photographic process of forced decay and rebirth of an original image, she forces the viewer to reconsider traditional modes of perceiving and displaying photography. Moving away from the literal and into the abstract, Patterson infuses the viewing experience with ideas of ephemerality and immortality, the artist’s lens ultimately bringing focus to the beauty between the lines. Art Salon: In Conversation with the Artist Saturday, April 30, 2pm.

MOPLA-SAGEProjects“I love the idea behind MoPLA,” explained founder and curator of SAGE Projects. “Cat Jimenez, the founder, is a savvy, charismatic, creative enthusiast and it’s impressive how she has grown this initiative to be such a successful, supported, dynamic series of events all across the city. I feel the initiative really unifies curators, galleries, and the photography community both locally and abroad in a way that encourages the free flow of ideas and learning across the medium of photography.”
