The Inglewood Open Studios (IOS) presents its Willie Stoffer Visual Artist Grant Exhibition. It will be held at the Inglewood Public Library.

2024/25 grant recipients Rosalyn Myles, Karen Sikie, Hedy Torres, and Naima White will each exhibit one of their works alongside student artists they guided. This year’s workshops were at Morningside High School and St. Mary’s Academy. The event will also mark the library’s termporary closing for upcoming renovations that will transform the library into a modern, dynamic space designed to better serve the community’s needs. West Hollywood

Sebastian Gladstone Gallery, in collaboration with CULTURED Magazine and Wood Kusaka Studios holds a special artist talk with Brian Sharp & Jonas Wood, moderated by Andrew Berardini, in celebration of the book release Denzil Hurley & Brian Sharp. Today is the final day of their exhibition.

IPF

The Inglewood Photography Festival launches its inaugural edition tonight. Exhibitions include acclaimed photographers Janette Beckman, John Simmons, Frank Jackson, and Greg Hatton.

Moreover the event will feature the work of rising talent Marina Abranches, recipient of the festival’s first annual Book Grant. The main exhibition will take place in a retail space adjacent to the historic Miracle Theater in downtown Inglewood. In Chinatown…Charlie James Gallery hosts an art talk with Jay Lynn Gomez and Ezrha Jean Black at its 2nd location. Jay Lynn Gomez and Ezrha Jean Black will lead a discussion regarding Jay Lynn’s solo exhibition Butterfly Dream at CJG2. This is the artist’s fifth show with the gallery, and her first exhibition post-transition mounted in Los Angeles. The exhibition questions what does it mean to exist in this new identity, instead of constantly striving to realize it? Butterfly Dream documents the people and places that make up the community of trans women Gomez has found in Los Angeles, all captured in her signature documentary style. Also Downtown…LA Freewaves and Future IDs presents JUSTICE + ART JAM, a Day of Art, Advocacy, and Resource Sharing at Los Angeles State Historic Park. LA Theatre

The Ahmanson Theatre presents Life of Pi a winner of three Tony Awards® as well as the Olivier Award for Best Play. It is a stirring fantasy style tale of wonder and adventure. Lolita Chakrabarti has an adapted dazzling stage adaptation of Yann Martel’s best-selling novel (over 15 million copies sold). The show opened to critical acclaim on Broadway and the West End. It is attracting audiences from around the world. The plot features a shipwrecked sixteen-year-old boy named Pi. He survives on a lifeboat with four other companions—a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. The magical story is unpredictable and the performance includes extraordinary puppetry and also stunning visuals.

Miracle Mile

Anat Ebgi presents two new exhibitions. Sayang by Singaporean artist Alvin Ong is the artist’s first solo exhibition in the US and with the gallery. Ong is known for his paintings that capture rituals of queer diasporic identity and community in surreal, bodily imagery.

Agua de vida is an exhibition by Mexican artist Ileana García Magoda. This is the artist’s first show in the United States. Featuring new paintings and works on paper, Magoda explores la mar (the sea) as the creative mother and primordial womb of existence.
