Also downtown…Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) hosts a very special art talk and UNO deck signing Gary Baseman. The event takes place in conjunction lion with its current exhibition Toys As Art, Art Inspired By Toys: Mattel’s 80th Anniversary Group Exhibition. The group show is presented in partnership with Mattel Creations, Mattel, Inc.’s collaboration platform. The conversation runs from 2-4 pm. Gary will recount stories of how toys influenced his art growing up in Los Angeles. Also the event will feature UNO Game Play. An art talk with Hugo Crosthwaite and Carolina A. Miranda takes place at Luis de Jesus Los Angeles. The conversation takes place in conjunction with the gallery’s current exhibition Ex-Voto. Beverly Hills Theatre

Here There Are Blueberries at the Bram Goldsmith Theater continues its run at the Wallis. This new work from Tectonic Theater Project (The Laramie Project) is conceived and directed by Tony and Emmy nominee Moisés Kaufman.

In Santa Monica CanyonGallery 169 debuts GRASSES, new drawings by Pacific Palisades based artist Marta Chaffee.

Born in 1936, the artist has created art inspired by the Southern California landscape for over six decades. In GRASSES, she explores the subtle beauty and complexity of humble yet pervasive plant life through soft pencil tones and erased shapes. Her compositions blur the boundaries between abstraction and representation, offering a meditative reflection on time, light, and the changing forms of nature. In Mid CityChris Sharp Gallery debuts a solo exhibition of paintings by the New York-based artist, Glenn Goldberg. The  71-year-old artist talks about his new work, “There are no birds in my work.” However, instead Goldberg utilizes the silhouette of a bird. Moreover his art is crafted via a systematic mark-making method. This technique looks like stitching placed on top of color fields. Thus creating works that cannot be categorized.

ICA LA holds its annual Spring Benefit at the studio of Los Angeles artist Glenn Kaino. The fundraiser is hosted each year in a different artist’s studio, ICA LA’s Spring Benefit brings together artists, patrons, collectors, curators, creatives, and friends of the museum to support our future. The evening will begin with cocktails, followed by a studio tour with Kaino and Executive Director Anne Ellegood, offering an intimate look into the creative process and themes that drive Kaino’s multidisciplinary work.

After remarks by ICA LA’s Board President Claudia Flores and Ellegood, guests will get a very special sneak preview of a new project titled Lavender Mist by High Seas (Kaino’s ongoing collaboration with renowned musician and producer David Sitek). And finally one more Downtown…head to Redcat for a performance. Morgan Bassichis turns to the work of queer comedian, musician, and performance artist Frank Maya in Can I Be Frank? Maya was among the first out gay comedians on network television and on the precipice of mainstream success before he died from AIDS-related complications in 1995. This new “solo” performance humbly attempts to ensure Maya’s legacy is no longer overlooked while finally resolving the bottomless queer search for fame and for father figures, and for laughter in times of crisis.
