In Santa Monica…Ebony Beach Club and Black Lives Matter present Juneteenth on the Pier. Experience sun, surf, and soul while paying tribute to Black joy, freedom, and community. It’s an all day event from 10am-noon learn how to surf for free – all ages. Then starting at 1pm, pay $25 to partake in the 21+ event through 8pm. Exposition Park
CAAM celebrates Juneteenth with a group show titled Repossessions. Although it opened back in February, it is a timely exhibition reflecting on reparations for descendants of enslaved African Americans. Exhibiting artists Chelle Barbour, Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle (Olomidara Yaya), Rodney Ewing, Curtis Patterson, and Marcus Brown will speak about their work on a tour led by exhibition curator Bridget R. Cooks.

As of yesterday, Wednesday, June 18, 2025 the world premiere of The Reservoir previewed at the Gil Cates Theater at the Geffen Playhouse. Written by Jake Brasch (Trip Around the Sun, How to Draw a Triangle) and directed by Shelley Butler (A Doll’s House, Part 2; The Scarlet Letter), the show will officially opens on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

California Art Club’s Annual Gold Medal Exhibition is currently on view at the gallery. The organization was founded in 1909, making this signature event the 114th annual exhibition. SPY Projects offers an opening art party for Daniel Healy (tape ends). The solo exhibition features new tape transfer paintings. This is the artist’s second solo show at the gallery. In (tape ends), Healey utilizes Scotch tape to lift ink from printed advertisements and transfer it onto canvas. Therefore each piece of tape removes a sliver of color resulting in an unusual and distinct imprint.
