Labor Day is one of three miniature paintings Roeder will have for sale at “Let Me Eat Cake Too.” Best known for her minimalist abstract paintings, Roeder’s work follows the Light and Space Movement while finding its roots in her life-long experiences growing up in Southern California. Labor Day reflects the joyousness of outdoor and family celebrations and the delight in food, friends, and festivities – a lighthearted take on the sweet life we all aspire to.

The group exhibition is part of Blue Roof Studio’s Second Annual Arts Festival, celebrating the summer solstice while highlighting the richness and diversity of the arts in South Los Angeles and beyond. It reflects Blue Roof Studio’s commitment to fostering and amplifying creativity, connection, and inclusion within the community.

The Arts Festival is free and open to the public on Saturday, June 22nd from 12 noon to 5pm. The day will offer contemporary street performance, live music, mural painting, traditional African master drummers, outdoor and indoor art installations, resident artists’ open studios, a video screening, art-making workshops and culinary arts.
