Pride Parade takes place along Hollywood Boulevard and is organized by Christopher Street West. 2019-LAPride

The L.A. Pride Parade takes place along Hollywood Boulevard. This long-running parade used to be held in West Hollywood. However, now the L.A. Pride Parade and Village happens in Hollywood. The theme of the 56th annual event is “Rise with Pride,” and its Celebrity Grand Marshal is Jeff Hiller. The Emmy-winning actor and comedian is best known for his role as Joel on HBO’s Somebody Somewhere. The parade kicks off at 11am at Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue, then it will travel north to Hollywood Boulevard. Next it turns east, and then heads south onto Cahuenga Boulevard, where it concludes back at Sunset Boulevard. But don’t go home yet kids, right after the parade, the LA Pride Village street festival takes place from 12:30-8:30pm on Hollywood Boulevard between Vine Street and Gower Street. Downtown…LA Opera celebrates the first night of Mozart’s The Magic Flute at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. This is the its 40th anniversary season as well as Music Director James Conlon’s 20th and final season. Director Barrie Kosky created the production alongside the British theater collective 1927.

Soprano Sydney Mancasola performs as Pamina in addition to Tenor Miles Mykkanen who portrays Tamino, and baritone Kyle Miller appears as Papageno. Written by Art Shulman, and directed by Stan Mazin, the world premier comedy/dramais presented by Borough Park Productions, the plot deals with aging. The main character Jake is in denial since he was once the star player of the neighborhood basketball game each weekend. He is once again reminded of his age when attempts to keep up with younger players. Plus he is about to become a grandfather.
