Kinky and MIS are part of a growing scene of Mexican electronica music makers, featuring fusions of traditional music with modern sounds. Both bands excel at sharing the rich, cultural soundscape of Mexico with a global audience while incorporating elements of contemporary music including dance, hip-hop and electronica. Kinky will perform songs off of their latest album Nada Vale Más Que Tú, music that marks a return “to the electronic roots that has characterized the group and solidified them as one of the most important bands in Latin America,” says Billboard Magazine. Mexico City-based DJ Mexican Institute of Sound (MIS) will open with a set of vintage Mexican pop and dance records from the ’20s through the ’60s mixed with modern loops and beats.

This event is part of IGNITE @ the FORD!, a series comprised of world-renowned contemporary artists whose work is thought provoking and reflects the world in which we live. Proceeds from IGNITE @ the FORD! events benefit the Ford Theatre Foundation. Tickets are available online at FordTheatres.org and by phone (323) 461-3673. Ford Theatres is located at 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. East, Hollywood, CA 90068.

“Simply put, Kinky are one if the most exciting live bands I’ve seen in recent years,” said radio/TV host and journalist Nic Harcourt. “Coupled with an opening DJ set of Mexican electronica from Mexican Institute of Sound, this is going to be a fabulous night of music and dance.”
