Peter Fetterman Gallery debuts two new exhibitions “The World of Steve McCurry,” and a group show titled “The Land” through March 26, 2022. You can also visit the website for a virtual tour of an exhibition by the talented  photographer, Sebastião Salgado.

Steve McCurry is universally recognized as one of today’s finest image-makers and has won many of photography’s top awards. Best known for his evocative color photography, McCurry captures the essence of human struggle and joy. As a member of Magnum Photos since 1986, he has sought and found the unforgettable; many of his images have become modern icons, his most popular photograph of the unidentified Afghan refugee girl with the striking green eyes.

Steve McCurry has covered many areas of international and civil conflict, including Burma, Sri Lanka, Beirut, Cambodia, the Philippines, the Gulf War, the former Yugoslavia, and continuing coverage of Afghanistan and Tibet. He focuses on the human consequences of war, not only showing what war impresses on the landscape, but rather, on the human face. This exhibition in our Main Gallery will feature a number of works from across McCurry’s career.

In the Project Room, “The Land.” Landscapes have inspired some of the photographic mediums most striking images. This year, Peter Fetterman Gallery curates a collection of photographs focused on the beauty and power of the natural landscape. A homage to our planet, and call to protect its great vistas, this exhibition will feature works by photographers, Ansel Adams, Paul Caponigro, Jeffrey Conley, Michael Kenna, Kurt Markus, Pentti Sammallahti and Brett Weston. A collection of 20+ silver gelatin works each exquisitely printed, sharing the unique vision of each great photographer.
