In the Miracle Mile area…here’s an art event/discussion.

The Loft at Liz’s hosts an event in conjunction with its current exhibition “Guns.”

An ongoing project by artist Maya Gurantz and interaction designer Elizabeth Goodman, GunFri-Oct28-2016-loftatlizsworlds is a conversation through the exchange of art objects that investigates the intractability of the gun debate through interviews with diverse stakeholders along the spectrum of the conversation.

For each person we interview–so far, public health workers, trauma surgeons, rural gun stockpilers, legal scholars, war veterans–we create an object that responds to and mirrors the worldviews revealed by their relationship to the gun issue. We are also creating “metaphysical objects” that reveal some of the ideas revealed by this conversation: the web of interconnectedness between all people–the desire to be threatening or not.

Tonight at the Loft at Liz’s, we will be sharing interview text, videos, performing with the metaphysical objects, and taking people on a tour through the far more complex and idiosyncratic social imaginaries that vibrate throughout this debate.
