In Hollywood…

From the twilight light of effervescent greens, crimson, pink, & blue we invite you to an immersive evening of phosphorescent landscapes. These paintings were created simultaneously by Ron Regé Jr. & Nora Keyes during a 5 month period from January 2013 -May 2013. No preparation was made for these pieces. They are revelatory subconscious works.

NoFri-Jan8-2016-NoraKeyes-Ron-RegeJrra Keyes is a multi disciplinary artist who is native to Los Angeles. She has been an active member of the underground art and music scene since the mid ’90′s. Her visual and sonic creations are, as she describes, ‘Improvisations of the multiplicities of abundant realities that exist parallel to our own solidified view.”

Ron Regé, Jr began self publishing & distributing his own comics in Cambridge, MA during the early 1990’s. His first Graphic Novel Skibber Bee~Bye was published by Highwater Books in 2000. His most recent, The Cartoon Utopia was released in 2012. His newest story, The Weaver Festival Phenomenon will be released by Fantagraphics in the fall of 2016.

La Luz de Jesus Gallery presents two new exhibitions “Mark Gleason: Blood and Fire,” and “Robert Craig: Inobvious Epithets.”

Fri-Jan8-2016-LaLuzdeJesus Jan 2016“These works embody my continued exploration of the forces that fuel and animate the human, the animal, and the elemental material of the world. In the creation of these allegorical images of solitude, absurdity, determination, transcendence, and consequence, I reduced my palette to the four archaic pigments: Red corresponding to blood, black derived from charred animal bones, fiery yellow and titanium white bring light to dark lands.” – Mark Gleason

Robert Craig’s hyper-realistic renderings have fooled many a casual observer to believe that they are digital, but his technique is entirely analog. Craig hand grinds pure Carrara marble to a powdered dust, mixes it with a combination of latex, water, egg white, and white shoe dye, which he applies to un-stretched, tightly-woven, Belgian linen in micro thin layers-each of which he finely sands to the point that the term “polished” may be more accurate. He insists that each layer can only be properly cured, individually, by sunlight.
