This February 2024, Mey Gallery celebrates Frieze Art Week by throwing an opening art party for Evocation Field. The event takes place at a temporary gallery location on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 5-8pm.

Evocation Field is a group exhibition featuring the work of eight contemporary Iranian artists. The exhibition is hosted by MEY and organized in collaboration with Tehran-based Bavan Gallery.

The group show will feature the art of an eclectic range of Iranian painters. Artists include:  Elham Etemadi, Ahoo Hamedi, Mehrdad Jafari, Roghayeh Najdi, Elham Pourkhani, Sanam Sayehafkan, Tarlan Tabar, and Minoo Yalsohrabi. This exhibition invites viewers to engage with a vibrant spectrum of voices and expressions. Evocation Field is an iteration of Tehran-based Bavan Gallery’s The Land of Cypress Trees initiative. It showcases art from Iran through international galleries, as well as various institutions, and venues.

About MEY

The gallery was born of the idea that contemporary art is a communal endeavor. MEY aims to create a space where passionate art enthusiasts feel empowered to engage earnestly with the work of emerging artists today.

Founded by two women determined to help dispel some of the art world’s elusivity, MEY seeks to build a community. Specifically, a community that upholds the belief that art is inherently a series of exchanges. It starts with the artist which transfers to the artwork, then artwork to viewer, and so on.
