Tequila is one of the most popular of the spirits. Herradura Tequila has been around since 1870 and is one of the earliest and most prominent players in its field. In fact, it is said to be one of the first distillers to start aging tequila in oak and making Reposado and Anejo Tequila.

Upper West Restaurant in Santa Monica will spotlight the spirit by offering a sumptuous Herradura Tequila pairing on Thursday, February 6th. Chef Nick Shipp enjoys working with a variety of cuisine…For the Herradura pairing he worked with Herradura Brand Ambassador Nicole Elieff to create an unusual yet delicious Tequila inspired menu.

Start off the meal with a Herradura Silver paired with a coconut poached pescado blanco with chipotle carrot purée topped with a lime-tomato jam and toasted cumin breadcrumbs. Next for an incredibly original dish, Chef Nick prepares a braised leg of goat with chorizo-sweet corn flan in hoja santa-tomato broth accompanied with Herradura Repasado infused Pezole de Chivo. At this point, Herradura Anjeo makes an appearance along with Memelita, a traditional oaxacan pizza with queso quesillo, a zesty black bean-huitlacoche spread, roasted tomato, parsley oil. If you’re feeling adventurous, there is an additional option of adding crunchy grasshopper.

Finally for the main event, partake in a chargrilled quail with jalapeño & citrus marinade, robust yellow curry mole, sauce guajillo, and cilantro-raisin pistou. A Herradura cognac Cask Finish Repasado has been chosen to accompany this flamboyant entree.

And to cap off the evening, enjoy the Herradura Port Cask Finish Repasado. This will be the accent to a delicious coconut pudding with oaxacan chocolate shell, cinnamon, plus a peanut butter praline will take this decadent meal to the next level.
