The 2020 Annual Downtown Culver City Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration took place on December 10, 2020. The event was held online this year. Presented by Amazon Studios, and Hosted by Culver City Downtown Business Association President Darrel Menthe, the extravaganza featured Culver City performers and artistic organizations, and can still be viewed on the website.

The virtual event is family-friendly for everyone to enjoy safely at home, and will feature Culver City’s best:
• 22-foot artificial Rocky Mountain pine adorned with 7500 warm LED lights
• Academy Award winner Tim Robbins, Artistic Director of The Actors’ Gang
• a specially created dance film from Invertigo Dance Theatre
• vocal performance by Lesili Beard of VOX Femina Los Angeles
• hosted by Downtown Business Association President Darrel Menthe and features
• student performers from Culver City High School’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts
• holiday greetings by the Mayor and City Council
• a special visit from Santa
Performers and speakers include:
• Invertigo Dance Theatre (debuting Illuminate, an original dance film choreographed specifically for the tree lighting and including community members)
• alto Lesili Beard from Culver’s all-female choral group VOX Femina Los Angeles
• greetings from Academy Award winner Tim Robbins, Artistic Director of The Actors’ Gang
• plus a variety of local student musicians, the Culver City Mayor and Council members, and Santa Claus.
The Tree Lighting Celebration is presented by Amazon Studios with additional support from Matthew Stoelt of Stoelt Productions, Eric Sims of Center Theater Group’s Kirk Douglas Theatre, The Culver Studios, the City of Culver City, Sylvia Bianchi and Nikki Kentor of the Culver City Downtown Business Association, Fiona Nagle of the Culver City Arts Alliance, and David Mack and Laura Karlin of Invertigo Dance Theatre. The event is produced by the Culver City Downtown Business Association.
