Artbug debuts Made in Mérida by David Serrano. An opening art party will be held on September 23, 2023, from 5-9pm. The exhibition will run through October 21, 2023.

David Serrano is a surreal artist, born in Mexicali. After living for decades in Los Angeles, California, in 2014 he moved to Mérida. Known for its stunning nature, the city also attracts visitors due to its rich cultural history. Both the Mayan and Spanish influences have made Mérida one of the main cultural centers in America.

Made in Mérida explores the transition and aesthetic results that David Serrano experienced when he made this city his new home. In this new stage, his work is mediated by the luminosity and texture that shows the artist’s ability to mediate the relationship between atmosphere and nature by exploring the beauty of ordinary events. A glass bead on the road, the song of a bird in the morning, and the reflection of a sunset on the sand, are all accidents that cross the path of the artist. These become surreal aesthetic experiences that communicate affection, inspire joy, laughter and moments of union.
