Downtown…Nicodim celebrates the art of Yoora Lee as well as Maureen St. Vincent (Upstairs). Lee, a Korean born artist now based in LA reimagines everyday images from tv and the web. While St. Vincent is a native of San Luis Obispo. Inspired by folktales and mythology, the artist combines a myriad of images such as items from our daily lives with bodiless legs and ovular shapes. In the Mid City area…David Kordansky hosts an in-gallery conversation between Hilton Als and Jared Buckhiester at 6pm. The art talk takes place in conjunction with No heaven, no how, a solo exhibition by Jared Buckhiester. Obscured by Colors opens at Advocartsy Gallery. The solo exhibition by Shadi Yousefian also includes a collaboration with Lucas Rise, an Argentinian artist.

Lisson Gallery debuts Bernard Piffaretti: Je n’ai jamais peint un tableau récent. The French artist’s exhibition will feature large scale works painted from 1987 to 2019. For the past forty years, Piffaretti has utilized his own process titled “the Piffaretti system.”

Head to MONA (Museum of Neon Art) to hear a talk about New Chinatown with Celeste Hong, Paul Greenstien, as well as Dydia DeLyser. Historians as well as preservationists reveal the history of New Chinatown and how neon light was incorporated. 2024 is 100th anniversary of YC Hong’s first office space in old Chinatown, which is now the site of Union Station.
