Yiwei Gallery presents Killing Me Softly, a duo exhibition featuring British artist Ann Thornycroft as well as emerging Korean artist Kay Seohyung Lee. The gallery hosted an opening art party on February 3, 2024. However, the exhibition runs through March 17, 2024.

Ann Thornycroft

The artist was born and raised in the United Kingdom, received her Bachelor degree from the Central School of Art in London and a Higher Diploma in art from the Chelsea School of Art. Ann Thornycroft’s work is featured in public collections of institutions and corporations worldwide, including 20th Century Fox, Bank of America, Disney Studios, and St John’s Hospital, Santa Monica .

Kay Seohyung Lee

Born near the US Army Garrison Yongsan Base, Korea in 1995, Kay Seohyung Lee navigates the intersections of Korean and American experiences. As a new immigrant, Lee explores the absurdities deeply rooted in American culture, shaped by the lens of Asian Perspectivalism. Her art creates a psychological realm featuring repeated figures of Asian women, exploring themes of embrace, violence, failures, and losses within the chaotic nature of the world. With a BFA from Washington University in St. Louis (2018) and an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania (2021),

Established and Emerging Artists

This exhibition highlights their latest oil as well as gouache paintings, exploring self-reflexive journeys across sentiments. It blends established and also emerging artists, emphasizing the gallery’s commitment to bringing artists from diverse backgrounds together.
