Well it’s Labor Day Weekend, so get out and party! Ok, so many of you did not have the chance to get out of LA… stop your boo-hooing…

No wWULaborDAy1USA-350xorries kids….we’ve got lots of fun happenings taking place all over LA. The County Fair kicks off tomorrow as well as a fab Greek Festival in Long Beach…(Mama’s Greek, and I looove to throw plates….ask any man I’ve dated).

The Hammer also puts on a fun music event this Saturday and we’ve got some other options too.

TheWU BUGonly art opening scene is rather slow this weekend due to the holiday. However we are lucky to have the Palos Verdes Art Center hosting a wonderful art party for two exhibitions.

The Pick of the Week lands on a Friday this week….The Palos Verdes Art Center’s late summer exhibitions “2012 Juried All-Media and Small Treasures.”

I’POW PalosVerdes YosemiteWinter byHowardAbramsve been to the arts center many times and it is a beautiful venue with lovely views.

This is a perfect time to enjoy some respite away from the chaos of Hollywood. A great for the start of the holiday weekend. Wine and appetizers will be served. Kick back and enjoy.

Each piece of art in the annual Small Treasures exhibition is either a two-dimensional piece with a perimeter of less than 50 inches or a three-dimensional item that fits within a 6-inch cube.

Each piece is by a member of one of the eight artists groups affiliated with the Palos Verdes Art Center.

Artist Michael Baroff is set to be featured as part of the All Media Exhibition portion of this event.

An eclectic artist, Michael has worked in various mediums through the years and has shown his work all over the Los Angeles area.

As part of the All Media Exhibition, Baroff offers five short videos.

The short videos capture unscripted in the moment physical movement and ambient sound in local public environments and are edited for enhanced visual effect and to create a sense of context.
