Hollywood

The Inkwell Theater at Broadwater Main Stage presents Emmy Award winner Elliot Shoenman’s WORLD PREMIERE play – Paper Walls. It just opened yesterday, and will run through November 9, 2025. The play portrays a poignant story very similar to what is happening today. A family who is profoundly affected by Hitler’s rise to power, finds themselves desperately fleeing persecution while awaiting entry into the United States. Restrictive U.S. immigration policies and antisemitism intensified their struggle.

Director: Darin Anthony; Cast includes Casey J. Adler, Warren Davis, Derek Manson, Dana Schwartz; Creative Team: Justin Hearn (Set Design), Nita Mendoza (Lighting Design), Marc Antonio Pritchett (Sound Design), Sarah Curran Ice (Costume Design), Ben Rock (Projection Design). Tickets are $35, with PWYC tickets available. Performance: 3pm; Broadwater Main Stage, 1076 Lillian Way, LA, 90038; https://inkwelltheater.com/

Also in Hollywood…It’s the second and final chance for you to enjoy The B-52s & Devo: Cosmic De-Evolution Tour at the Hollywood Bowl. The opening act is Lene Lovich. These two new wave bands are fantastic. I’ve seen the B52s before, and they are incredible live, though I have not seen Devo live, I have heard the band also puts on a great show.

October 19 2025 Art

Born in Athens Georgia in 1976, the songs of the B52s soon topped the charts. Most well known for their hits “Rock Lobster” as well as  “Love Shack,” they kept relevant well into the 90s. Devo came out of the music scene at Kent State University in Ohio in the early 70s.

I can’t wait to see both bands, but specifically the B52s. So many of us grew up with this  retro band and their outrageous hair styles and costumes. Gates open at 5:30; performance: 6:30pm; The Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N Highland Ave, LA, 90068; https://www.hollywoodbowl.com
