Yiwei Gallery debuts The Artist Studio, a solo exhibition by French born artist Corinne Chaix. With the interdisciplinary background of fine arts, computer science and animation, Chaix is now based in Venice, California as an artist and a curator. Chaix constructs a surreal story-verse built on contrast, where uncanny backdrops of uninhabitability are juxtaposed with the flourishing of life. DowntownThe Wooster Group’s Symphony of Rats by Richard Foreman kicks off tonight at the REDCAT with a timely, reimagined production. Hollywood

Steve Turner presents two new exhibitions – bodyfountain by Tiger Rocha, True Colors: Jingze Du, as well as Acts of Service by Shinto Yamazaki. The first solo exhibition by New York-based Tiger Rocha features four large-scale abstract paintings. These emotionally charged works of art are composed of layers of thinned and sculptural oil paint that Rocha slashed and dripped across the canvas over a period of several months.

Then in True Colors, a two-part solo exhibition consisting of new paintings by the Dublin-based Jingze Du. The first part consists of forty-one mostly small-scale paintings that depict animals painted in black, white and shades of gray. However, True Colors has a second room of paintings. These are loose adaptations of famous paintings from the past and include Manet’s The Execution of Emperor Maximilian; David’s The Death of Marat; Goya’s The Third of May 1808 and Vermeer’s Woman Holding A Balance. Also in HollywoodNazarian / Curcio hosts two nights of performances. Naama Tsabar activates her current exhibition Friction, with local musicians and performers. Naama Tsabar composed and performed the piece in a collaboration with Gabriela Burdsall, Jeanann Dara, and also Sarah Strauss.
