Downtown…Corey Helford Gallery (CHG) presents an art talk in conjunction with its current exhibition. Toys As Art, Art Inspired By Toys: Mattel’s 80th Anniversary Group Exhibition. The artists will share their favorite childhood memories of Mattel Toys, and also reveal their creative process.

Variety Show
In East Hollywood…Adanza written and directed by Brooke Ferri and Joseph (Jilbér) Ferri opens at Eastwood Performing Arts Center. The new musical combines aerial artists, music, dance, circus, storytelling as well as bubbles. It is a story about exploration with a lesson that it’s never too late to be the person are meant to be. In addition to aerial acts, the show also includes juggling, unicycles, breakdancing, flipping, animation, bubbles, glow sticks, drumming, audience participation and more. Melissa Carvajal, and Vicki Liv choreograph the show, while Brooke Ferri and Jilbér Ferri compose the musical and write the book.

West Adams
Lowell Ryan Projects celebrates the opening of two new exhibitions. Darkness or the Dawn is a solo exhibition by British-born, LA-based artist William Bradley. This is the artist’s second exhibition with the gallery. Bradley explores the emotional and psychological transitions between opposing forces. The artist does this through large-scale abstract paintings, reflecting on his own history and memory in relation to nature’s continuous ebb and flow.
Rock Paper Scissors, a solo exhibition by Cornwall, UK-based artist Arthur Lanyon also opens tonight. This is the artists debut exhibition with the gallery. The exhibition includes a series of works on paper. Lanyon utilizes a variety of materials, including oil stick, oil primer, acrylic, and charcoal powder. He creates gestural, tactile works at approximately 22h x 30w inches in scale. These works continue Lanyon’s exploration of the delicate balance between creation and destruction, control and surrender. Lincoln Heights…Replace Cartridge Soon by David John Attyah opens at Keystone Art Space. The solo exhibition of experimental works on paper features an old-school Xerox copier, a roll of black masking tape, and a glue stick. Track 16 Gallery opens a new second location on Heliotrope. Its inaugural exhibition Ravenology by Eve Wood. The artist’s second solo exhibition with the gallery will feature a gouache on paper series. This exhibition reveals Wood’s surreal fascination with the raven.
The new location is just north of Melrose Ave. in what’s called the Bicycle District after the bike shops that used to anchor the area. LA Theatre
In Beverly Hills…Here There Are Blueberries at the Bram Goldsmith Theater is just about to complete its run at the Wallis. There is only one more show tomorrow. This new work from Tectonic Theater Project (The Laramie Project) is conceived and directed by Tony and Emmy nominee Moisés Kaufman.
