Renowned artist Peter Max will be celebrated this Saturday and Sunday….yes, you’ve got two chances to get there to meet the artist.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Rolling Stones, Peter Max unveils his latest Mick Jagger. This exhibition will also showcase his new Masters series, interpretive works of Vincent Van Gogh, Monet, Pablo Picasso, Renoir, and Edgar Degas, conceived in Max’s signature style and colors.
In addition, Max will be exhibiting his iconic portraiture of celebrities and luminaries, including two of Taylor Swift’s album covers, Grammy Award commissions, and the celebrity lifestyle.
Also on exhibition and available for acquisition will be Max’s best loved and world-renowned works.
With paintings on exhibition in hundreds of museums and galleries worldwide, Peter Max and his vibrant colors have become part of the fabric of contemporary culture. Max has been successively called a Pop Icon, Neo Fauvist, Abstract Expressionist and the United States “Painter Laureate.”
The artist has had the distinct honor of painting the last seven Presidents of the United States and the world’s best loved celebrities, among them the young sensation Taylor Swift.
This exhibit features his iconic and best-known pieces as well, among them “Statue of Liberty”, Max’s famous “Flag” pieces, “Umbrella Man” and the prestigious 10 Cent Stamp bearing the title “Preserve the Environment.”
There will also be presentations of his celebrity portraiture, as Peter Max is revered for his celebrity commissions and portraits.
Recently, Norwegian Cruise Line revealed Norwegian Breakaway’s signature hull artwork designed by the pop icon. This is the first time Norwegian has commissioned a well-known artist to paint the hull artwork on one of its ships.
Launching in April 2013, Norwegian Breakaway will be the largest ship to homeport in New York City year-round. Max’s signature artwork will cover approximately 40,000 square feet of Norwegian Breakaway’s hull.
Exhibit previews began on February 6th, 2013 and the exhibition extends through Sunday February 17th, 2013.
Peter Max will be making two very special appearances at Gallery 319 Saturday, February 16th from 6-9pm and Sunday, February 17th, 2013 from 2-5pm.
