We’ve got a couple of special events for you this Wednesday, December 16.
RONROBINSON presents the art of Barbara Kosoff.
Kosoff’s original mixed-media works on paper are hanging in the café along with an assemblage piece entitled, Wake Up, Barbie which is her homage to Barbie. The piece utilizing a Barbie doll with a princess crown, long flowing blond hair and an alarm clock, is Kosoff’s expression of Barbie’s biological clock ticking.
Kosoff says, “I guess I was exploring the idea of my own clock ticking and related to Barbie, as I grew up with Barbie dolls like every other girl in America, and was also called Barbi, so you might say this is a semi-autobiographical piece.” Kosoff decided to include this piece as RONROBINSON just had a Global Launch of the Andy Warhol and Barbie collaboration including limited edition Barbies reminiscent of the legendary pop artist and other Barbie inspired items.
Kosoff’s whimsical work is often inspired by colors and textures found in nature. Her inspiration frequently comes from a song, poem, quote or dream, or as with the Barbie piece, childhood memories. Kosoff’s other artwork on exhibit is an assortment of framed giclée prints in varying sizes.
Barbara Kosoff’s exhibition of her work at the RONROBINSON SANTA MONICA FLAGSHIP STORE is currently up…if you can’t make the opening be sure to stop in. The exhibition will be on view through January 31, 2016. For more info about the art of Barbar Kosoff, visit her website.
