Expand your mind during the 4th Awareness Film Festival. The event starts tonight and runs through July 28. Featuring socially conscious films, free filmmaker panels, donation-based yoga, and free art exhibits — all conveniently located at nearby venues in Santa Monica: Aero Theatre, Laemmle Monica 4-Plex, Magicopolis and Promenade Playhouse.

Thurs 7.25-7.28 Awareness Festival Poster 2013Themes represented in this year’s films include: green and eco-friendly living, homelessness, gang/felon reform, veteran’s issues, cancer survival, GMO’s, marijuana policy reform, couch-surfing community, pilgrimages, mental health stories, vision loss, women’s issues; stories of hope, the arts, spirituality, and current events and much more.

Film presentations will be accompanied by filmmaker Q&A’s with talen in attendance. World premieres include 420: The Documentary, Authority and Expectations, C: A Celebration of Life, Charity, Conscious Love, Charity, as well as 30 other features and 45 shorts from 17 countries. Many films are award-winning, and many others are new to the festival circuit.

The film festival raises funds for the LA nonprofit Heal One World healoneworld.org

Individual screenings are priced at $8 for students and seniors, $11 Presale, and $14 at the Door. Select screenings are free!

Festival passes range from $39 for a student pass to $175 for a VIP pass.
