By popular demand, Kelly Kilmer is teaching a brand new mixed media class. Roll up your sleeves, don your aprons and prepare to get messy! You’ll explore a variety of mediums including watercolor, gouache, and much, much more. Create richly painted pages which you will assemble into a canvas covered book. Learn new ways of exploring color and layering in this unique 4-hour workshop.

The day before Mother’s Day, May 10th, Culver City is having their annual Car Show. Just a block away, The Word is Art will be open all day to join in the celebration. Just for this occasion, you will have the opportunity to have your greeting cards personalized in calligraphy by professional calligrapher, Renee Troy. When you buy a gift, an enclosure card will be available to be personalized as well. Featured Window Felting Artist: Monika Kwiet
Monika Kwiet Fiber and Textile Artist window begins Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm
Our fifth featured artist window of 2014 will feature our fiber and textile artist Monika Kwiet. Monika creates one-of-a-kind pieces that are lovingly reconstructed from 100% wool sweaters. They have been fulled (felted) a process where animal fibers are matted into a dense, durable and easy to clean fabrics. She makes hats, scarves, handbags, bowls, fish, and even little monsters just to name a few. All of her creations are originals and adorable – made for you or for gifting!
