Downtown….(at the Brewery location)

Sun-May1-2016-LAArtcore-Brewery-MikeSaijo-SyutaMitomo-HarukoSasakawaLA Artcore is pleased to announce a three-artist group show (Mike Saijo, Syuta Mitomo, Haruko Sasakawa), that extends the art-object as a vehicle of broader global concerns. What emerges is a pattern of investigations on the nature of perception, community, economics and culture in a world that is increasingly technological, interconnected, and interdependent. Drawing upon the internet-transformed nature of collective participation, artist Syuta Mitomo’s project Meme, proposes a collective painting in which the artist employs a cylindrical apparatus with a canvas fastened down. As the piece is spun, viewers hold their chosen drawing tool to its moving surface.

Sun-May1-LAArtcore-EchoLew
Or head to the other location…

L.A. Artcore is pleased to present a solo exhibit by Echo Lew. Lew’s “Light Drawings” use light, photography and physical movement to create energetic gestural abstractions. Lew’s pieces evoke elusive phenomena in nature such as masses of birds moving as one in the sky, invisible gravitational forces, waves, or electromagnetic pathways while equally emphasizing the artist’s hand gestures.

Lew’s art career of twenty-eight years finds the L.A. artist synthesizing the relationship between the body and mark-making through nontraditional means.
